Karl Braun
Karl Braun joined Clark Bros., Inc. (CBI) in 2019 as Director of Estimating and was promoted to Vice President in 2026. In his executive leadership role, Karl oversees all commercial operations for the company, including business development, sales, estimating, contracts management, preconstruction, engineering, and project startup. He is responsible for driving CBI’s growth strategy, expanding market presence, cultivating key client and partner relationships, and leading the pursuit and development of new project opportunities across the company’s diverse markets.
As Vice President, Karl provides strategic direction for the entire project acquisition and preconstruction lifecycle, ensuring alignment between market strategy, client engagement, engineering solutions, risk management, pricing, contracting, and project execution. He works closely with senior leadership to identify emerging opportunities, strengthen competitive positioning, and support the company’s long-term growth objectives.
Karl leads multidisciplinary teams responsible for business development, estimating, engineering, preconstruction planning, proposal development, contract negotiation, and commercial risk management. His leadership helps position CBI for success across public works water and wastewater infrastructure, renewable energy civil subcontracting, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects in solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), and high-voltage transmission and power infrastructure.
Since joining CBI, Karl has played a significant role in the company’s growth, helping drive more than 300% expansion through the development of scalable commercial processes, disciplined project selection and pursuit strategies, enhanced risk management practices, and the recruitment and development of high-performing teams. His focus on integrating business development, engineering, preconstruction, and estimating functions has strengthened CBI’s ability to secure and successfully deliver complex infrastructure and energy projects.
A civil engineer with more than 28 years of experience in heavy civil construction, Karl holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Marquette University. His broad expertise encompasses commercial strategy, project development, contract management, project management, cost control, bid analysis, scheduling, safety, field operations, quality assurance, and large-scale infrastructure planning and execution.
Prior to joining CBI, Karl spent two decades in progressively advanced field and management positions, rising from Field Engineer to Project Manager while leading complex civil construction projects across 12 states. This hands-on operational experience provides him with a unique perspective that bridges project execution and executive-level commercial leadership.
Karl’s technical expertise includes earthwork and excavation, bridge and foundation construction, concrete and structural steel systems, drainage and utility infrastructure, marine construction, renewable energy facilities, high-voltage power infrastructure, large-scale demolition, and site development. His ability to combine technical knowledge with commercial strategy has been instrumental in helping CBI expand its capabilities and successfully pursue increasingly complex and transformative projects.
